Bart Each song, just when you think you have a handle on this band, they morph yet again. Thrash, death and black metal are all here in fine form. One of the better metal releases I've heard this year. Favorite track: And All Shall Know His Name.

vaporgirl1976 This is a band to watch! Holy sweet goddamn, every single aspect of this EP is on point! The songwriting is top notch, the playing is supreme, the production is immaculate, nothing is wrong whatsoever. So stoked to have nabbed a cassette! Favorite track: And All Shall Know His Name.

Michael J. Sturrock / The Magma Chamber Production, musicianship, song writing, heaviness, percussion, vocals, guitars, aura and general power is unprecedented. It’s relentless. One of the best of 2021, no doubt.

jordanstoffel Incredibly tight production. Sinister sounding ambient effects reel you in and you are held captive by one bludgeoning riff after another. The guitar tones themselves are clearly forged in the fires of hell, because they are absolutely cauterizing. Favorite track: That Day Has Come.

AND ALL SHALL KNOW HIS NAME The assembly of ghouls gather at the chapel Tophet An unholy congregation that prays at the altar of death Invocation speaking in tongues yearning to call out his name The summoning of the antichrist praise the fallen angel in flames Hail! Recite unholy verses To conjure strength from deep inside Hail! Glossolalia In league with the Devil praise the beast divine Ave tenebris - The Darkness will reclaim Ave rex - And all shall know his name The quill is dipped into the well of eternal life And the lamb is signed into the book of souls And all shall know his name The primal gift of flesh immolation for the birth of the son of light And the lamb is bathed in his libation And all shall know his name Under the moon, they gather in the circle the altar awaits The witches bathe in the liquid and lace to satisfy his grace And the lamb shall give his life to his master he calls Lord Satan accept my gift, my soul is yours" Hail! Recite unholy verses To conjure strength from deep inside Hail! Glossolalia In league with the Devil praise the beast divine Ave tenebris - The darkness will reclaim Ave rex - And all shall know his name The blade it shimmers and beguiles in the candlelight And the lamb bathed in his hecatomb And all shall know his name The primal gift of flesh immolation for the birth of the son of light And the lamb is bathed in his libation And all shall know his name The tangle of tongues spews forth a poem of flames A conjuration spoken backwards as they breathe his name ”Beelzebub Leviathan Belphegor” they sing The ritual born in blood as Lucifer spreads his wings The serpent rises to reclaim what he once lost And rip that feeble lifeless martyr from his noble cross Behold the archfiend, behold the diabolic supreme The assembly of ghouls rejoice in the birth of their king The pure blood of believers brings the parturition of the beast The kult of deceivers, pellucid lust of his ghouls summoned to feast the absolution of flesh in flames Lucifer spreads his wings The primal gift of flesh immolation for the birth of the son of light And the lamb is bathed in his libation And all shall know his name

about

"Blackened death outfit Empty Throne are a new band, but their experience is far from in question. Containing current and former members of Possessed, Abbath, Angerot, The Kennedy Veil and Decrepit Birth, Empty Throne are a thrashy blackened death powerhouse who hit the gas pedal and don’t let up until it’s over on their debut EP, "Glossolalia." - DECIBEL MAGAZINE

"Glossolalia" is a perfect blend of cornerstone metal genres that will leave you unsure of whether to sip a crimson glass of red wine or slam a PBR; run amok in a circle pit or sacrifice a goat; and plaster on corpsepaint or dig up a corpse to be your next sex slave. Oh yea, the thrash! I guess you’ll have to do all of your above choices while riding a skateboard on the way to get a pizza as well." - LAST RITES

Blackened death thrashers Empty Throne are a quartet of veteran hellbringers with a deep lineage in extreme metal. The members hail from multiple regions of the United States, with vocalist C.R. Petit and bassist Jason Ellsworth (both of Angerot) calling the heartland of South Dakota home. Meanwhile, drummer Gabe Seeber (The Kennedy Veil, Decrepit Birth, Abbath) and six-string assassin Michael Joseph Pardi (Possessed, Draconis, Ritual) hail from California. But distance has done nothing to hinder the power and momentum of the band’s three-song debut EP, "Glossolalia."

After members of Angerot met Pardi in Sioux Falls, they learned that Pardi had a treasure trove of unused song ideas. Pardi’s serrated riffs have aged like sacrificial wine. With Petit’s venomous and eclectic delivery and Ellsworth’s ripping bass talents, the only weapon missing was a percussive force. Enter Gabe Seeber, a true drumming dynamo.

With their lineup assembled, Empty Throne repurposed Pardi’s riffs to craft the three dynamic and ornate epics composing "Glossolalia." The band is unbeholden to a single genre, and their songs surge with the wild blood of extreme metal's history. There’s the violent propulsion of ‘80s thrash. The agile savagery of death metal circa 1994, with Gothenburg adornments and rabid vocals. Those influences seamlessly blend with the ambitious scope and shadow-dwelling atmospheres of 21st century black metal. The songs crawl with demons, vampires, and humanity’s own self-inflicted horrors—all courtesy of Petit’s gripping lyrics.

At 23 minutes of length, these three songs form a formidable EP announcing Empty Throne with a riveting roar. Hell’s gates have opened wide, and Empty Throne has emerged from the flames.
